[...] Rep. Nita Lowey (D-NY) made introductory remarks, in which she highlighted some of the impressive milestones that investments in global health by the U.S. and other global partners have achieved over the past few decades – including eliminating polio in all but three countries in the world, increasing life expectancy in many countries from 40 to 65 years, doubling child survival rates, and extending the lives of millions of people living with HIV/AIDS who previously would have faced certain death.
My prayers continue for you and your family as you all cope with Jackson's illness.

He is a wonderful little boy and he is fortunate to have you, Alex and Jamie as his parents. And now an adorable little sister to also love him.

Protein therapy sounds very promising and I will happily make a periodic contribution towards this exciting endeavor.

Love,
Arlene

Thank you for a valuable discussion. I realize the panel has just concluded, however, an issue to consider --

On using the funding & resources we do have more efficiently.

How can we maintain and increase the efficiency, or the return on our investments, in R&D? In particular by increasing our efforts in developing Responsible Conduct in Research, following basic scientific practices.

I ask this from the perspective of one who observed scientific misconduct 25 years ago, and the subsequent development of the RCR field (i.e. the Office of Research Integrity). This concern is primarily for NIH and other Federally--Funded research protocols.

"77% of Americans say they are concerned that the U.S. is losing its global competitive edge in science, technology and innovation."

You know, this statistic has always surprised me. We may be losing the edge in science, but innovation is one of greatest traits Americans have. We are a country of entrepreneurs - and that is something the majority of the world cannot boast about.

Help! Health insurance is now our only concern. Please deliver us from the top heavy (in my opinion so I won't get sued :-) congressmen and women who are as crooked as they are greedy. Limit their terms to 2 like the pres.; stop all pensions immediatly; give the pres. the line veto to keep them from grabbing all this power for themselves again - derail the congressional gravy train - the rest of us are starving and in bad shape - and it is ludicrous to watch billionaires vie to get into the White House when the rest of us are broke, broken, and starving and losing our homes. I've sent received and sent copies of Congressional Fix to everyone I can think of, politicians, favorite news reporter as well as politicians - so far no one has even had the gu - internal fortitude to read out loud what needs to be done - beginning with the term limits.
Bob Schieffer (if I may?) are you afraid to speak up too?
in other words, HELP - I and my family and the rest of the American people need your help.
Thank you for your time and attention (if you're still reading-I'm losing hope...)

This is a very good post. As we get further and further away from our relatives, it also opens us up to misinformation. For example, "Grandma died of cancer," when she also had high blood pressure that led to heart disease and a fatal heart attack. Preserving and sharing information is the best way to catch the scope of a family's health history.
