The University
of Nevada, Reno (UNR) had an economic
impact of $611.3 million in 1999-2000. The University directly employed 5,700 people and induced nearly 10,800 jobs in the local economy.
According to a report from BIO and Battelle,
Nevada
legislation included $5.4 million
for a Biotechnology and Genomics
Research Facility at UNR and $10.15
million for start-up research expenditures at the Nevada Cancer Institute.
