Highlights from local economic impact studies

United for Medical Research's 2011 study, An Economic Engine, shows that in 2010 NIH invested $357,000,000 in Oregon, producing 7,097 new jobs.

In 2010, Genentech opened a new facility in Oregon, bringing over 300 high-paying, technical jobs to a state-of-the-art facility.

In FY 2004-2005, the University of Oregon pumped $20 into the state economy for every dollar it received from the state. UO generated $1.2 billion in spending and supported 8,600 jobs in the state.

Oregon Health and Science University brings in $27 in grants, gifts, contracts, and service funds for every dollar from the state. OHSU generates 42,000 jobs and $2.7 billion in regional economic activity in the state.

In 2006, Oregon State University brought in $184 million of research funding from external sources. OSU is estimated to have an economic impact of $1.3 billion in the state.
