The Honorable John Edward Porter is chair of Research!America's Board of Directors and a partner in Hogan & Hartson's Washington, DC, law office. Previously, he served 21 years as a congressman from the 10th district in Illinois. In Congress he was chair of the Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education; as vice-chair of the Subcommittee on Foreign Operations; and as vice-chair of the Subcomittee on Military Construction.
The Honorable Paul G. Rogers is the chair emeritus of the Research!America Board of Directors. Rogers, former U.S. Congressman from Florida (1955-79), served as chair of the House Subcommittee on Health and the Environment from 1971-79 before joining Hogan & Hartson. Rogers sponsored or played a major role in enacting major health and environmental legislation. In addition, Rogers' subcommittee exercised oversight of the National Institutes of Health, the Food and Drug Administration, and the Environmental Protection Agency.
