Chair, Lovelace Respiratory Research Institute
Jacqueline Lovelace Johnson was appointed as Chair of the LRRI Board of Directors in 1992 and continues in that role today overseeing LRRI Board activities. LRRI continues the research begun by her great uncle, Dr. William R. Lovelace, and her father, Dr. W.R. "Randy" Lovelace, more than 50 years ago. Ms. Johnson graduated from the University of Colorado in Boulder and worked in Washington, DC as a press secretary, moving to Denver in 1971 to run the re-election campaign of Congressman Tim Wirth. Following his re-election, she joined the staff of Colorado Magazine and Colorado Business Magazine, becoming editor of both before leaving to start her own publishing company. After a move with her husband in 1985 to Kansas City, MO, she held board positions with the Friends of the Zoo, serving as President from 1995-1998, and with Camerata, the Kansas City symphony, serving as President from 1995-1997. Ms. Johnson is also a Fellow with Nelson-Atkins Art Museum, a member of the Junior League, and chaired the first fund raiser for the Kansas City Zoo, which has turned into the largest fund raiser in the city. She was elected to the City Council of Mission Hills, KS, and served as Finance Chair for Congressman Dennis Moore, D-KS, for three of his races for Congress. Ms Johnson is also a fund raiser coordinator for Kansas Governor Kathleen Sebelius.
