Statement by Research!America president and CEO Mary Woolley in Response to Reports of CDC Directive

Monday, December 18, 2017

We are deeply concerned by reports that personnel from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and other federal agencies were advised not to use certain terms, including “evidence-based,” “diversity” and “fetus.”  If true, this directive flies in the face of our values and best interests as a nation. We commend CDC Director Dr. Brenda Fitzgerald for stating unequivocally that there are no banned words at CDC.
