Sudip Parikh, PhD is Vice President of AgriFood and Vice President of Health Policy for the Battelle Memorial Institute. In the AgriFood role, Dr. Parikh is accountable for Battelle's global AgriFood business, which provides research and development services from across Battelle's science and engineering portfolio to the Agriculture and Food industries. In the Health Policy role, he leads the effort to broaden and deepen Battelle's engagement in health and life science policy in the United States and internationally. Prior to joining Battelle, Dr. Parikh served as Science Advisor and Professional Staff to the United States Senate Appropriations Committee. In that position, he was responsible for representing the Senate in negotiations for the $70 billion discretionary budget of the Department of Health & Human Services. He also played a key role in major health and science policy debates that arose in the Senate at that time. Before his service with the Senate, Dr. Parikh worked in various positions at the National Institutes of Health. Dr. Parikh serves on the Boards and Steering Committees of several patient advocacy organizations, including the Friends of Cancer Research the Food Innovation Center; and the American Association for Cancer Research. Dr. Parikh holds a B.S., Materials Applied Science, University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, NC and earned a Ph.D., Macromolecular Structure and Chemistry from The Scripps Research Institute, La Jolla, CA.
