WASHINGTON—February 1, 2010—Research!America's board chair, former Illinois Congressman John Edward Porter, and president, Mary Woolley, responded to President Obama's proposed FY2011 budget, released earlier today.
Porter said, "We thank President Obama for prioritizing medical and health research in his budget proposal for 2011 and for his continued commitment to science and innovation. His proposals for federally funded research align with his State of the Union remarks about the importance of investing in science to keep America competitive, to create jobs Americans need now and to revamp our economy for a stronger economic future for our children and grandchildren."
Research!America President Woolley said, "The National Institutes of Health supports innovation-based jobs in all 50 states. We look forward to working with Congress in the months ahead to ensure sustained investment in research to improve health, to maintain the jobs created and the important research capacity gained through the stimulus funding."
