Coordinator of Science Outreach

Research!America, a nonprofit membership alliance that advocates for science, discovery, and innovation to achieve better health for all, is seeking a key staff member to support science outreach initiatives. The Coordinator of Science Outreach, on behalf of Research!America, provides expert support and coordination of the Science CEO group, comprised of chief executives of more than 40 scientific societies and associations. Primary among the objectives of the CEO group is to build relationships across the sciences, share information and identify potential joint activities or opportunities for members of the group who have found new common ground to work together. This coordinator for the CEO group will provide administrative, logistical and organizational support for the Science CEO group; regularly communicate and coordinate with the co-chairs of the Science CEO group; lead exploration of important new ventures the Science CEO group is uniquely positioned to assume; and assist with identifying potential joint activities for the scientific societies in the Science CEO group. In addition, the Coordinator of Science Outreach will be instrumental in helping Research!America expand its outreach with the science community through innovative civic engagement programs which include identifying opportunities to work with student and post-doc science policy groups; exploring potential community-facing initiatives for science policy student groups; and seeking opportunities to provide science communications workshops. The Coordinator of Science Outreach will also assist with Research!America’s advocacy priorities through policy research, writing and representing the organization at key meetings. Candidates must possess 2-3 years of relevant experience, outstanding written and verbal communication skills and exceptional interpersonal skills. A Master’s Degree or PhD in a scientific field with a demonstrated interest in public policy is required.
