Geoffrey Beene Builders of Science AwardBenefactor: The Geoffrey Beene Foundation2013 Recipient:Cancer researcher John Mendelsohn, MD, will be presented with the Geoffrey BeeneBuilders of Science Award. During his tenure as president of The Universityof Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center from 1996 to 2011, he oversaw dramatic increases in both size andstature of the institute. Earlier this year, MD Anderson was named the country'stop hospital for cancer care by U.S. News & World Report. He currently serves as the director of the Khalifa Institute forPersonalized Cancer Therapy at MD Anderson.
