The event will explore the current and future roles of innovation and research as catalysts to economic growth in West Virginia and as solutions to major health threats including the opioid epidemic.

Senator Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) and Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) are scheduled to deliver remarks, and leaders from government, industry, academia, and scientific societies will be among the panelists for a discussion on the social, economic, and health impact of public and private sector research and technology. Research!America’s president and CEO Mary Woolley will release results of a new survey of West Virginians on medical and health research.
