Improvements to Rural Health Care Through Patient-Centered Research
Research!America, the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute, National Rural Health Association, and American Heart Association convened on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC, to discuss the value that patient-centered research delivers to people living in rural areas. In the Kentucky Appalachians, where the risk of heart disease is among the highest in the country, researchers found that certain interventions improved the health of residents. Panelists discussed the unique healthcare delivery needs of those living in rural areas and how patient-centered, community-based programs can work well in these regions of our nation.
