Protect and Strengthen NIH in Fiscal Year 2027
The federal funding process begins with the President’s Budget Request (PBR), after which Congress sets funding levels and advances appropriations bills through committee markups and votes. For FY27, the President has proposed a 12% cut to NIH. This reduction would severely undermine scientific progress and slow the pace of medical innovation. Every member of Congress has a role to play in protecting NIH funding and must use their voice and influence to reject these cuts and support at least $51.3 billion for NIH in FY27. Use this action alert to help make the case.
