The Puerto Rico Vector Control Unit (PRVCU) is a public health initiative of the Puerto Rico Science, Technology and Research Trust, created in collaboration with the CDC. Established in 2016, PRVCU is dedicated to protecting Puerto Rico’s residents from mosquito-borne diseases through an integrated vector management (IVM) approach. Its work includes entomological surveillance, insecticide resistance testing, community engagement, educational outreach, and capacity building. By combining science, innovation, and grassroots action, PRVCU promotes sustainable solutions to control Aedes aegypti and reduce the burden of arboviral diseases across the island and in other tropical regions.
