Research!America President and CEO Receives Health Policy Award from New York Academy of Medicine

Arlington, VA –  Research!America congratulates President and CEO Mary Woolley for receiving The New York Academy of Medicine’s Academy Medal for Distinguished Contributions in Health Policy. The award was presented Dec. 1 during The New York Academy of Medicine’s 175 Anniversary Discourse, Annual Awards and Meeting of the Fellows. This award is given to individuals who have made significant contributions to health policy through research, public service, or advocacy.

Research!America Board Chair Sudip Parikh, Ph.D, congratulated Woolley on receiving the award: “It would be difficult to overstate Mary Woolley’s role in advancing research and its societal benefits as a uniquely effective, insightful, and influential leader in research advocacy.”

Woolley was awarded the Health Policy award along with former Surgeon General Dr. Regina Benjamin. Other individuals honored with awards that night included: Jennifer Doudna, Ph.D., Nobel laureate in chemistry; Dr. Peter Hotez, Dean for the National School of Tropical Medicine at the Baylor College of Medicine; and Dr. Timothy Johnson, Bates Professor of the Diseases of Women and Children and Chair of Obstetrics and Gynecology, University of Michigan.
