Arlington, Va. – Research!America, the nation’s largest multi-sector alliance advancing medical research to achieve better health and well-being for all, released the following statement in response to news reports that the Trump Administration is considering an executive order establishing a political committee to review and approve NIH grants.
“Adding more bureaucrats would slow medical progress to a grinding halt,” said Research!America President and CEO Russ Paulsen. “American patients and their families waiting for the next lifesaving treatment or medical breakthrough should not have to wait even longer.
“We appreciate that the administration stated it would spend all NIH dollars – no rescissions or impoundments,” Paulsen said. “There also needs to be no slowdown in our search for cures.”
