Sheila Murphy

Vice President of Advocacy Programs and Initiatives

Sheila Murphy is Research!America’s Vice President of Advocacy Programs and Initiatives.  Sheila comes to Research!America following a 25-year career as chief legislative and policy adviser to Senators Kerrey (D-NE), Nelson (D-NE), Carper (D-DE), Klobuchar (D-MN) and then-Representative Durbin (D-IL), as well as foreign policy adviser to Democratic Leader Daschle (D-SD).  She also developed legislative and advocacy strategies for a range of health, telecommunications, higher education, business and other clients at bipartisan lobbying firm, Peck Madigan Jones.  Additionally, she was chief of government relations at Save the Children Action Network.  Sheila has an undergraduate degree from Dartmouth College and an MPP from Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government.
