The HERBERT PARDES FAMILY AWARD FOR NATIONAL LEADERSHIP IN ADVOCACY FOR RESEARCH, established by the Research!America Board of Directors in 2018, recognizes individuals who, throughout their careers have – like Dr. Pardes – demonstrated distinguished leadership and sustained commitment to public engagement and advocacy for research. 

Pamela B. Davis, MD, PhD, currently Arline and Curtis Garvin Research Professor at Case Western Reserve University, had a long career in research in cystic fibrosis, then served as Dean of the School of Medicine and Senior Vice President for Medical Affairs from 2007-2020. There she promoted innovative medical education, enhanced translation of research discoveries to patients, and engaged the School in community health research. She served on NIH Advisory Councils for NIDDK and NCATS and the NHLBI Board of Scientific Counselors and has served as President of AFCR, Chair of Medical Section of the AAAS, and on the Board of Directors of Clinical Research Forum. She is an elected fellow of AAAS, and member of the National Academy of Medicine and the National Academy of Inventors.
